THE ERRORS OF THE DOCTRINE OF JEHOVAH’S WITNESSES: JESUS IS THE ARCANGEL MICHAEL

Michael is an angel in command of the other angels (Revelation 12:7), and for this reason in Scripture he is the only one called “archangel” (Jude 9), which means “chief angel”, “chief of the angels”. But Jesus is not an angel, and this is specified in the letter to the Hebrews: “For unto which of the angels said he at any time, Thou art my Son, this day have I begotten thee? And again, I will be to him a Father, and he shall be to me a Son?” (Hebrews 1:5) The author of the letter to the Hebrews not only excludes that Jesus is an angel, but even says that angels worship him: “And again, when God brings his firstborn into the world, he says, Let all God’s angels worship him.” (Hebrews 1:6). Jesus is the firstborn, since no one before him was generated by God the Father, and he is the only begotten (John 1:14.18; 3:18; 1 John 4:9) because no one after him was generated by God the Father, taking up the words of St. Ambrose of Milan (The Faith I, 14, 89). In his letter, Judas writes: “But even the archangel Michael, when he was disputing with the devil about the body of Moses, did not himself dare to condemn him for slander but said, The Lord rebuke you!” (Jude 9) But the Lord is Jesus, as it is written: “Yet for us there is but one God, the Father, from whom all things came and for whom we live; and there is but one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom all things came and through whom we live.” (1 Corinthians 8:6) And also: “For certain individuals whose condemnation was written about[a] long ago have secretly slipped in among you. They are ungodly people, who pervert the grace of our God into a license for immorality and deny Jesus Christ our only Sovereign and Lord.” (Jude 4)
