Mentre la NV, CEI, MARTINI, TILC, NR, ND, BG e altri, traducono correttamente il testo greco in Giovanni 8,58, la TNM traduce erroneamente il greco « egò eimì » (che significa « io sono ») con « io ero » (nella loro versione inglese, la NWT, hanno « I have been » che significa « sono stato »). Ma per « io ero » il greco ha « egò ên ». In tutti gli altri versetti in cui Giovanni riporta « egò eimì », la TNM traduce correttamente con « io sono ». Ecco alcuni esempi:

Giovanni 6,48 TNM
Gesù disse loro: Io sono (egò eimì) il pane della vita.

Giovanni 6,51 TNM
Io sono (egò eimì) il pane vivo che è sceso dal cielo;

Giovanni 8,12 TNM

Come mai la TNM e la versione inglese NWT traducono correttamente « egò eimì » con « io sono » e « I am » in queste scritture sopracitate e in altre, mentre in Giovanni 8,58 traducono in modo errato? Gli autori della TNM hanno voluto nascondere il fatto che Gesù afferma di essere l’ IO-SONO. Con quelle sue parole, infatti, Gesù richiama le parole che il Signore disse a Mosè: « Io sono colui che sono! ». Poi disse: « Dirai agli Israeliti: Io Sono mi ha mandato a voi » (Esodo 3,14). Questo i giudei lo avevano inteso molto bene, e perciò volevano lapidarlo (Giovanni 8,59). Gesù con quelle parole afferma di essere egli stesso YaHVeH, il Signore!

Vediamo qualche traduzione in inglese differente dalla NWT:

Tutte queste versioni in inglese traducono correttamente « egò eimì » con « I Am » (Io Sono) anziché « I was » (Io ero) o « I have been » (Sono stato) come nella scorretta traduzione geovista.

Anche le versioni in francese traducono correttamente « egò eimì » con « Je Suis » (Io Sono) anziché « J’étais » (Io ero).

Anche le versioni in spagnolo traducono correttamente « egò eimì » con « Yo Soy » (Io Sono) anziché « Yo era » (Io ero).

La versione tedesca traduce correttamente « egò eimì » con « Bin Ich » (Io Sono) anziché « War ich es » (Io ero).

Tutte queste versioni di Giovanni 8,58 dimostrano l’errore della TNM.

Concludo con queste forti parole di Gesù: « Vi ho detto che morirete nei vostri peccati; se infatti non credete che Io Sono, morirete nei vostri peccati » (Giovanni 8,24).
